Fun with Prospekt Linux, again…
Sunday 14. May, 2006
Now I have a system compiled and running. This time with older software used in the book and everything seems to be functioning just fine. Features of my little operating system distribution project:
- KDE 3.5.2
- Gnome 2.14.1
- Smart Package Manager (on top of RPM)
- About 600 RPM-packages compiled so far
There’s (at least) one problem, though. I’m not a big fan of System V Init and therefore I have been trying to find a well-functioning replacement for it, but my efforts have been unsuccessful. The Init-ng surely is an interesting project, but it seems to a bit unreliable as it segfaulted. I’ll continue the hunt for perfect init…
I have been thinking of making a public release of Prospekt Linux eventually, but it’s clearly not the time for that yet.
